We increase our productivity by changing the way we see our tasks. We approach our daily work with a more deliberate and focused mindset.
Here are some ways you can get your brain working towards a more mindful practice as you're completing tasks:
1) Think about the purpose of your work: How do your daily tasks (even the ones you aren't the most excited about) align with your own vision and mission? What about your company's vision and mission? How are you truly contributing to both?
2) Determine how your work will help you accomplish your long-term goals: Where do you want to be one month from now? How about 1-3 years from now? Every task shouldn't be urgently important, so prioritize daily work to help you get where you want to be.
3) Motivate yourself: Are you motivated by the feeling of accomplishment after completing a task? Or does the pressure of not completing an assignment motivate you? Maybe you're motivated by checking an item off your to-do list, or by knowing you can spend more time with your family if you finish your work quicker. Use these as motivators when you navigate through what may seem like an endless amount of work.
BONUS TIP: Research shows that taking a 5 minute breather between tasks helps you to refocus with more clarity. It's always the simple things that make the difference, right?
